II Timothy 2:22

II Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Years ago, Mary Kate whined, “I think that I am old enough to have a cell phone.” She was five years old. So I asked, “Who would you call with your cell phone?” She confidently replied, “Sally.” Sally was her imaginary friend. Often when we are young, we do not see things clearly. So Paul said in our verse that we should simply flee youthful lusts. Run away from them. Don’t think about them; don’t see if they make sense; just run away. Later, when we are older, we will see clearer why we were in such danger of the youthful lusts. So, if we run away from youthful lusts, what should we run towards? Well the list contains righteousness, faith, charity, and peace. What a wonderful list! Paul was right; we should seek righteousness, faith, charity, and peace.
