Daniel 3:16-18

Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Daniel had boldly told Nebuchadnezzar about the God of heaven. But he just didn’t get it. Oh, he did for a while. But Nebuchadnezzar soon forgot about the dream from God. Nebuchadnezzar really thought a lot of himself. He was proud. Sometimes leaders are like that. He had a huge image made of himself and ordered everyone to bow down to the image. But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego weren’t impressed. They bowed only to God. So when the music played and everyone else bowed, it was pretty obvious that the three young men weren’t bowing. Nebuchadnezzar was furious! But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn’t budge. And in his rage, Nebuchadnezzar had them thrown into the fiery furnace. But God was with them. No, no, you don’t understand! God was really with them - right there in the flames! As King Nebuchadnezzar looked into the furnace, he saw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and a fourth man, who he thought looked like the Son of God. So how did King Nebuchadnezzar know what the Son of God looked like? Nebuchadnezzar had never seen the Son of God before, so how did he recognize Jesus? Oh, when you see the Son of God, you’ll know him! Nebuchadnezzar did! So don’t ever forget, whenever times get tough in your life, Jesus Christ will be right there with you. In all of life’s trials, Jesus is right there. Just trust Him and look for Him.
