I Samuel 7:6-8,10-12

I Samuel 7:6,-8,10-12 …And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh. And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines. And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel. And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar. Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. Samuel prayed to the Lord of heaven and God heard his prayer and rescued His people. Samuel did a smart thing: he put up a great stone monument so that everyone would remember how God had helped them. So one day, when a little boy and his dad were walking by the stone, the little fellow would say, “Hey, Dad, that is an unusual stone. It looks like someone stood it up there on purpose. Why is that stone set up there?” The dad would respond, “Well let me tell you about that stone, son, and about a day long, long ago.” The dad would go on to explain to his little boy how that God had delivered Israel from their enemies in a miraculous way. What a great reminder and a great way to remember. Has God done a wonderful thing in your life? Has He answered a prayer for you? I’m sure He has. Get a picture or write about it or set up a reminder of it somewhere so that you will remember God’s wonderful answer to your prayer. God blesses us all the time and we need to remember God’s blessings!
