I Samuel 15:22,23

I Samuel 15:22,23 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. Saul was in trouble! God had promised to be with him in battle - and He did! But God also told him to destroy everyone and everything, but Saul had disobeyed. Saul had whipped the Amalekites. and had killed everyone except King Agag. He had destroyed everything, but he had kept the very best of the flocks and herds. So when Samuel showed up, Saul lied and told Samuel that he had done everything that God had required. But Samuel knew better. God had revealed the truth to Samuel. So Samuel confronted Saul about his half-way obedience. Saul stumbled over his words and said that he had kept the animals so that he could sacrifice them to the Lord. But Samuel reminded Saul that God preferred obedience over sacrifice. God doesn’t want apologies; God wants obedience! He wanted it from King Saul, and He wants it from us! We should obey God.
