Snowfall

When I was a kid growing up in Maryland, I could always tell when it had snowed the night before.  In the early morning, before the sun came up, it was so quiet and so bright outside.  One of the first sounds that I heard was the snowplow scraping the roads.  Us students hated that sound, because it meant that school was to be held with no snow day ahead.  Oh well …  But when daylight came, just before anyone went outdoors, the scene from our living room window was stunning!  The white snow covered everything making the entire view beautiful.  The stacked woodpile looked like marshmallows.  Where the road ended and the grass began to where the sidewalk started, … everything was uniform.  No ruts in the gravel road; no oil spots on the driveway; even the garbage can had a beautiful white cap!  Hey, Isaiah described our sins as looking that way when covered by blood of the good Lord.  Isaiah said in Isaiah 1:18, “… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”  Just like the snowy blanket covered the nastiness with its beautiful, uniform covering, so does the Lord cover our sins.  He treats everyone equally.  The self-righteous snob’s sins are covered just like the shameless drunkard’s sins.  We ALL can find salvation with our sins covered.  Hey, have you had your sins covered?  Have you let the dear Lord blanket your nastiness with His saving, cleansing blood?  Do it now while the blessed Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart.  Please, do it now!
