Who Is Most Important?

There are 206 bones in your body.  The biggest is the femur (the thighbone) and the smallest is the stapes (for hearing) in the middle ear.  You might argue which is more important, walking or hearing, but I would argue that both are important.  Therefore, both bones are important, the smallest in the body and the largest in the body.  Hey, the same is true in the church.  No one is more important than someone else.  Big or small, all of us are necessary.  So, who is more important? the music director standing up front of the congregation or the janitor who keeps the toilet paper supplied in the bathroom?  You might argue either way and have a valid argument.  In I Corinthians 12, Paul argues that all of us are important in the church.  He said in I Corinthians 12:18, “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.”  The final word is that God Himself has given us talents and gifts, and God has given us responsibilities as He wishes.  Hey, has God called you to be the music director?  Then lead the music to the best of your ability!  Has God called you to be the janitor?  Then clean that bathroom to the best of your ability!  Hey, we all serve God … and we should all serve one another too.
