II Samuel 5:3,10

II Samuel 5:3,10 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him. After Saul was killed in battle, along with his three sons, David became the next king of Israel. Ishbosheth proclaimed himself king, but that didn’t last very long because he didn’t show wisdom. He insulted his army captain, Abner. Abner decided to defect to David, and Joab killed him. Ishbosheth promoted personal guards who weren’t loyal, and they assassinated him. So everyone in Israel eventually came over to David’s side. David was good-looking and great with people. He always seemed to say the right thing. David was a good leader and had loyal men working for him. But most of all, God himself was with David. David was known as “a man after God’s own heart”. What a wonderful testimony! When people hear my name or your name, I hope they think, “That is a godly person.”
