Grow Up!

Kathy and I were at the snack bar at Costco this afternoon.  You order at the kiosk and your receipt is printed out with your order number on it.  And then you wait for your number to be called.  There was a twenty-something aunt with her sister and two little nephews who were waiting for their order.  But the two-year-old in the cart was not happy.  The two ladies were trying to distract him, but nothing would do.  They explained that the food was coming, but the little fellow was hangry (hungry AND angry).  he could not be appeased nor satisfied.  They got their drinks (empty cups for self-service) and food, but little man still cried … until they sat down and pulled out his hotdog.  THEN he quit crying and started eating.  Hey, how often are we like the little fellow with our heavenly Father?!  We pray to God but lack the patience to let the dear Lord answer our requests in His own good time.  Jesus said in Matthew 7:7&8, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”  God WILL answer our prayer, but the answer may be “no” or “wait”.  Are we willing to wait on our heavenly Father, or do we kick and scream like the child in Costco?  Hey, grow up!  Put away your childish faithlessness and put on your big boy pants.  Trust God and wait for Him to work.  Because, make no mistake, He is at work … on your behalf.  Just be patient.
