Secret Damage

 

My dad built our house in two stages.  He saved up the money and built the front half of our house.  He attached our trailer to the finished half, and we used our trailer’s kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom attached to the front half-house.  Then five years later, he moved the trailer and built the back half of the house.  About twenty years later, he replaced the front door and discovered termite damage underneath the door.  After closer investigation, the termites had been quietly destroying the entire sill plate of the front of the house.  It cost hundreds of dollars and considerable work to replace the 2X8 timbers.  Often, we think that our secret sins are hidden like the termite damage.  We think that no one knows what is going on in our minds.  But God knows.  Our private sins are open before the Lord above.  David said in Psalm 90:8, “Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.”  Nothing is hidden from the Creator of the Universe.  He knows all.  And just like termite damage must be repaired, secret sin must be confessed and forsaken.  Our best plan is to come clean before a holy God.  Hey, confess and forsake your sin right now.  You’ll be glad that you did.
