I Peter 4:7

I Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. Our verse for today talks about being sober – being serious. And the first part of our verse tells us why we should be serious about our faith. We should be serious because Jesus Christ is coming back very soon to receive us up to heaven. Then we will give an accounting for how we have serve Him while here on earth. Let me illustrate with a story from my past. When I was a boy, we looked forward to summer vacations. Me and my three brothers couldn’t wait for school to be over so that we could enjoy our vacation time. But after a few days, we began to get cranky. We would pick on our younger brothers, our younger brothers would whine, and we would all get into trouble. So, in the morning before Dad would go to work, he would give each of us some jobs to do to keep us busy and out of trouble. But being boys, we would play all morning and afternoon. But just before it was time for Dad to get home from work, we would get busy. We knew he would be coming soon and we would be in trouble if we didn’t have our work done. That is just how it is with the coming of Jesus Christ. He will come back again. And we need to be ready for when He does. When Jesus comes back, will he be pleased with our work, or will He be disappointed with the little work that we have done for Him? Think about it, and prepare for Jesus to came back.
