I Peter 5:10,11

I Peter 5:10,11 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Peter ends his first letter with this benediction. A benediction is the final thing that the preacher says just before he dismisses the congregation. We sing, “What a mighty God we serve!” Peter is reminding us that before we get to heaven, we have to suffer a little while. And even if we have to suffer for a long time, it still is brief compared to how long we will enjoy heaven! Peter reminds us that God will teach us everything that we need to know. God will organize our lives. God will strengthen us. God will settle us down. What a wonderful God we serve! We should praise Him! So, after Peter praises God, he closes with Amen, which means “may it be so!” Praise the Lord! Amen!
