Mark 8:31-33

Mark 8:31-33 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. This is an amazing verse! Just yesterday Jesus bragged on Peter for what he said, and today Jesus is rebuking Peter for letting Satan fill his head with evil! How soon things can change! And how easy it is to go from being spirit filled to be Satan filled! It’s as if you are going one way, and suddenly, you are going the opposite way! So what happened to Peter and how can we keep this from happening to us? Well, I think the key is “Spirit filled”. If we keep close to the Lord, He will keep close to us. But if we start thinking our own ideas, Satan will give us ideas to think. We may even think that they are good ideas and make complete sense, but they are not God’s thoughts. They are our thoughts – and may be even Satan’s ideas that he planted in our heads. Remember, pray and use God’s filter to evaluate ideas and thoughts. The Holy Spirit will keep us thinking the right thoughts
