Mark 8:34,35

Mark 8:34,35 ... Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. Here in our verses for today, Jesus reminds us that the spiritual world is different from the physical world. Often we try to put all of our efforts into the physical world. We work and save and plan for the future - and those are important things to do. But if we plan for the physical world, and fail to plan for the spiritual world, we have missed the most important things. Jesus says that we are trying to save our life, but we are actually losing it. Here in our verses for today, Jesus says that both areas are important. But we must put Jesus and the Gospel first if we are to have a happy and productive life. Jesus says that if we put Him first, we are not wasting our time. Jesus will reward us and make our lives complete. So how do we do the Christian life? Well, the first half of our verses tells us how, and here it is: Deny yourself and put Jesus first. If you put Jesus first, He will take care of the rest!
