Bitteraweet

I went to Dominion Senior Living Tuesday night to take some Pedialyte to my Aunt Sophie.  She had a foot infection, and a week of antibiotics took its toll on her digestive system.  She is only 86 pounds, so she had no reserves (like I do) to fall back on.  Kathy made her some Greek soup Monday, but she just couldn’t keep it down.  This morning, the staff found that she had passed away in her sleep.  What a bittersweet phone call early Wednesday morning!  She was 95 years old and ready to go Home!  Aunt Sophie was a prayer warrior and a woman of faith.  Dr. Roberson had asked Uncle John to come to Tennessee Temple to start the business department at the college.  Uncle John and Aunt Sophie picked up and moved from Arkansas without asking about a salary or a house!  But God honored their faith.  Aunt Sophie was assistant librarian while Uncle John taught in the college.  Both were faithful in the Sunday school and church.  I will miss her but have wonderful memories.  Her celebration service will be Tuesday, April 12 at Heritage Funeral Home, 3239 Battlefield Pkwy, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA 30742. The family will greet friends at 10:30 am with a service in the chapel at 11:30 am under the direction of Aunt Sophie’s pastor, Scott McCurdy.  Interment will be at 1 pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
