Explaining the Unexplainable

When I was in the ninth grade at Edgewood high school, my English teacher, Mrs. Hidecker, gave us a speech assignment. And for our speech, we were to explain how to use a telephone to someone who was from the jungles in Brazil. They had no idea what a telephone was, nor how to use it. It was eye-opening to me. Things that we take for granted were difficult to explain to someone who had never seen it. Wires, plastic, microphone, numbers, and switch. All of these needed basic explanations. And just like me, John the revelator had a difficult time explaining the grandeur of heaven to humans who had never experienced such magnificence! Heaven was like a fairy tale to John with doors and walls shining like gems and streets paved with gold! Paul shared in John’s wonder when he said in I Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” Hey, think of the most fabulously glorious picture of heaven. And then realize that heaven is more fantastic than that! No, really! And then realize that God has prepared a place in heaven just for you! And that, my friend, is how much God loves you!
