A fireman does not fall asleep while knocking down a house fire. An Ironman swimmer doesn’t fall asleep during the water leg of the competition. But, when a cool breeze is blowing and the sun is shining, it is easy to lean up against a tree trunk and fall asleep. Hey, Christians don’t fall asleep during the purifying process of the fire. Christians don’t fall asleep going through testing in deep waters. But Christians do fall asleep in the sunshine. When the good Lord gives us blessings, we should be grateful, because God is being gracious to us. But if we neglect the Lord during the good times, He may have to send difficult times to bring us back to Himself. Paul said in Romans 5:3-5, “… we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Stand up for the Lord during the fire and deep waters of testing, but don’t forget Him in the sunshine.
