Have you noticed that I haven’t posted in 3 days? That’s because I made a quick trip to Maryland to attend my nephew’s wedding. My children told me not post that I am going out of town because you people will know that I am not at home and will steal all of my stuff. What my children don’t know is that I only have junk and you already have all of the junk that you need. So, I am safe. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Whitely (né Samantha Papas) are officially a new family. Congratulations to the new couple! From Wednesday to Saturday, I drove 1,350 miles without an incident … almost. I got up early Thursday morning in Maryland to meet my uncle for breakfast, and the old Buick wouldn’t start! I panicked! I opened the hood, and wiggled the 3 wires on the battery, and it started! What a relief. But later that afternoon, the car wouldn’t start again. After the wire-wiggling, it started and I thought, “It must be a short in the starter connection. After the wedding and on the way back to Georgia, it started to rain. I noticed that the low fuel light was on, but I didn’t want to stop in the rain, so I pressed on. But in an hour, the headlights began to dim! The battery gauge showed nothing! I took the next exit while praying that the battery would last until I got to a gas station, which it did. I coasted into the gas pump just as the engine stopped. I opened the hood and wiggled the wires, but this time I noticed that the positive cable connection was loose. My problem wasn’t a bad wire; it was a loose battery post bolt! But I had no tools and a dead battery. I filled up the gas tank, Googled auto parts store and walked .2 of a mile. I bought a cheap socket set, and walked back to the car. I tightened the loose bolt, turned the ignition key, and the engine sprang to life! As I got back onto the interstate, I praised the good Lord for watching over his needy child! God is good, all the time, but sometimes I just notice His goodness more than others. Can I take a moment and praise the Lord right now? Hey, has God blessed you? Then praise Him! Psalm 103:1&2, “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
