One of the best ways to keep a newborn baby healthy and to minimalize postpartum depression for the mother is for the new mother to nurse her baby. It gives the baby optimal nourishment, and it bonds mother and baby. The word for nursing used in the Bible is succour. A mother nursing her little baby is such a tender moment, and the word succour is such a tender word. Speaking of Jesus, the writer of the book of Hebrews said in Hebrews 2:18, “For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.” Because Jesus suffered as a man, just like us, He is able to understand our failures and our sins. And Jesus, the Creator of the Universe, is able to tenderly succour us, his dear children! How wonderful!
