At the Gate

I heard an interesting story This morning.  Greg Laurie was invited to the White House some time ago.  He arrived at the gate with his Bible in hand expecting to be ushered in.  But error was made, and his name was not on the approved list.  He was stopped at the White House gate for some time until the clerical mistake was resolved.  With apologies, he was ushered into the White House gate, onto the White house lawn, and on in to see the President of the United States.  Hey, someday, and someday soon, you will face eternity.  You will pass from this life into the next.  Is your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life?  (Revelation 21:27)  When you come to the Pearly gates of heaven, will you be welcomed in or will you be told, “Depart from Me, I never knew you.”?  (Matthew 7:23)  Make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior while you can.

God Is Great; God Is Good

Hope your Thanksgiving Day is great! I am blessed to be with family today. We are participating in the Turkey Trot this morning at 8:55 am. 3 mile run/walk (for me crawl). Then a wonderful meal at 2pm. I am grateful for family and God's loving care. I am thankful that my wife doesn't have to suffer through dialysis, foot pain, wheelchair, or diabetic retinaopathy. I am resting in God's promises of the Blessed Hope! Hey, count your blessings today, because they are many. Lamentations 3:22&23, "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."

Neuropathy

I woke up in the wee hours Sunday morning with my second toe on the right foot in pain.  I moved my foot a little, but the pain was still there.  I thought to myself, “I am finally getting neuropathy.  Most old people suffer painful tingling in their extremities, and my second toe had just started.  I got up and went to the bathroom.  My toe was still hurting.  I went back to bed, and when I laid down, the pain seemed to ease a little.  I was able to go back to sleep.  When I got up about 6 am, Sunday morning, my toe wasn’t hurting at all.  Strange.  I swung my legs out of bed and my toe was still fine.  But when I slid my feet into my slippers, I felt that stabbing pain in that second toe on my right foot.  I put on my glasses and took off my slipper to examine my toe.  The skin on the right side was red and inflamed.  Hey, I didn’t have neuropathy; I had an ingrown toenail!  I carefully clipped my toenails, and my second toe on the right foot felt better.  By Sunday night, I felt no pain at all.  Some folk might call me a hypochondriac, but I don’t care: my neuropathy was healed!  Proverbs 15:13, “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance …”  Have a great, pain-free day!

fallen Leaves

I park my truck in the front yard because I usually drive my car and I park it in the driveway.  The car gets much better gas mileage than the truck.  But the real reason that I park the truck in the front yard is because it leaves me more room on my driveway to work on my projects.  A tree in the front yard gives my truck convenient shade in the summer so the cab is a little cooler when I hop into it.  But in the late fall (like now on November 25), it also gives me piles of fallen leaves all over my truck.  I am reminded of the covenant that the good Lord made with Noah just after the flood.  Genesis 8:22, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”  God gives us everything that we need, including the seasons and the weather.  He sends the hot summer days (that Brother Carl likes) and He sends the cool late fall days (that I like).  He sends spring and summer leaves on trees to keep my truck cab cool and he sends the falling leaves that smother my truck.  So, today, when I am out raking the fallen leaves and burning or mulching them, I need to be reminded of the goodness of God.  Hey, consider yourself reminded of the goodness of God!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y81yIo1_3o8&list=RDy81yIo1_3o8&start_radio=1
