I was up in Springfield, TN attending the South Central Grower’s open house Saturday and left late to return. I stopped in Manchester TN to get gas and a burger at Burger King. The manager was mopping the floor and his son (looked to be about 12 years old) was taking orders. I ordered a Whopper Junior and a water. The young man gave me the receipt and a cup for the water. I had just gotten my water when another employee called out, “Order number 48!” I replied, “Wow, that was fast! The “A” team must be working tonight!” To which the manager replied, “We’re the king, not the clown.” (As in Ronald McDonald.) Hey, this morning at church, will you hear the Word of God preached, or will you just hear a book report? Will the preacher say, “Thus sayeth the Lord …” or will he only tickle your ears? Paul told his young protégé Timothy in (II Timothy 4:2) to, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” Today in church, will you hear from the King, or just a clown?
