Stinky

Monday, I got a call from school that there was a leak downstairs in the church building.  And after investigation, I discovered it was a sewer leak.  Bummer.  A cast iron pipe fitting hidden in the basement wall had rusted through after 54 years of service.  I could do the repair work, but the leak was in the concrete block wall.  I had to open up the space, remove the compromised fitting, and replace it with PVC.  I had to remove a cast iron 4”X2”X4” tee and a cast iron 4”X2” bell reducer.  I was able to ream out the nearby pipes while I was replacing the fittings and replaced couplings with neoprene gaskets so that I could clean them out again in a few years (if I’m still alive).  The rusted hole in the iron fitting was the size of a quarter, so it had been growing for some time.  So had the smell!  Hey, do you have some compromised areas in your life?  Do secret places in your dark heart stink?  It could be time to come clean with the dear Lord and let Him clean out the nastiness.  Jeremiah 17:9, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”  Anyone of us is capable of the most heinous sin … apart from the supervision of God.  Keep as close to God as you can.  You’ll be glad that you did.
