The Wrong Way

I am frustrated with things that should go a certain way but actually go the other way.  Confused?  So am I, and I’ll try to explain.  To activate the wipers on my car, I twist the handle clockwise, but to activate the wipers on my truck, I must turn them counterclockwise.  And it seems that whichever vehicle that I get into, I always seem to get it wrong!  I have a three-way light switch in my home.  When I turn the light on at night at one end of the hallway, the switch is up (like an “on” switch should be), but when I walk to the other end of the hallway to go to bed, to turn the lights off, I must flip the switch up (counterintuitive).  So, when I get up in the morning (coming out of the bedroom end) I must flip the switch down to turn it on (backwards).  And when I leave the house, at the other end of the hallway, I must flip the switch up to turn the lights off (again, counterintuitive).  Are you confused?  Welcome to my world!  My son got me a motion sensor tall kitchen trash can.  When I move towards the trash can, it opens.  Sweet.  Except that when I am at someone else’s home, and I expect their trash can to automatically open, which it does not do, and I am left standing there in front of their trash can looking silly.  Hey, does God expect one thing from you, but you do the opposite?  Do you leave God scratching His head at you?!  (Of course, He is never puzzled.)  Paul said that he would not frustrate God’s grace by trying to work his way into heaven.  Galatians 2:21, “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”  And, of course, we know that Jesus Christ did not die in vain.  So today, don’t frustrate God or frustrate yourself.  Act the way that you should; trust God the way that you should; and live in victory … as you should.
