Lessons from Quilting

I am working on another quilt for … shhhh … it’s a secret.  There are so many things that I have learned while quilting: don’t take short-cuts.  They never save time; they only cause you grief.  You always have time to do it over, so go ahead, take the time, and do it right the first time.  Pay attention to details.  If it isn’t quite lined up, notice it and take the time to line it up (refer to the first one).  Remember your mistakes.  If you don’t, you are doomed to make them over again (refer to the first one).  Keep things in their best working order.  Take the time to clean, iron, and straighten.  And last, take the time to think.  Stop once in a while to pause, get a cup of coffee, sit down, and look at things.  You may see a problem; you may see a better way to do your work; but always, pause and reflect … and remember, God is good.  He gives you vision, health, an inquisitive mind, and life itself.  So, take a moment to thank Him.  Proverbs 21:5, “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.”
