My morning routine includes posting this on facebook. But first, I get the coffee going. After all, it is 4:30 am! Then I put 2 slices of bread into the toaster, which will soon be toast. Then I get out the butter knife, plate, coffee cup, and honey. I must have honey on my toast. Then the glass cover comes off the butter (which must be at room temperature. I hate cold butter: it just rolls up as I try to spread it onto the toast). And if I have timed it just right, as I get the butter onto the knife, the toast pops up. Perfection! Then the second piece of toast/butter as the coffee is growling finishing up percolating. I pour the coffee, pour in too much cream (my only vice) and pick up my squeeze jar of honey. I get local honey from Farb Bureau Insurance. They like to help out local beekeepers (I would use the word apiary, but I don’t want to confuse you). Honey is great, but it comes with a whole set of problems. It drips on my sleep tee shirt, it runs onto my hands, and it sticks to my beard. Then I get my coffee, and some honey is transferred to the cup handle. Then it is transferred to my vitamin container. Then onto the empty plate as I stand up to take the sticky plate and cup to the sink. I must carefully take off my sleep tee shirt so as not to transfer honey all over my head as the shirt comes off. Then to the bathroom lavatory to wash off that wonderful honey that is all over my face/beard and hands. I am reminded of Psalm 133:2, “It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments.” My honey that gets everywhere is like the precious ointment that ran all over Aaron’s beard making him sweet-smelling. But what does “it” refer to? Well, back to verse 1, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Through Holy Spirit inspiration, David said that the unity of the brethren is that sweetness. Hey, today, may others see that you and I are sweet because we get along with other Christians. Whether it is ointment or honey, let’s be sweet today ,,, and please our Maker.
