Dreams are interesting. When I wake up, I try to remember my dreams, but they are so random that they slip my mind within moments of waking up. But Tuesday night, I had a dream so vivid that I remembered it as clearly as if I were really true. I was working on a deck staining the wood (partly real because I am currently working on staining my sister-in-law’s back porch). But the ends of the wood were not taking the stain, so I had an idea: I got a black Bic pen and smashed it with a hammer. I pulled out the ink tube, pulled off the point, and smashed the soft ink tube over and over with the hammer onto the end of the board. And that black ink stained the end of the board just as nice as could be. But it was only a dream. Dreams are based in reality, but the thoughts are randomly mixed. Our minds are free to link ideas that we have used the previous day, but in bizarre patterns. It is as if we are mentally deleting leftover thoughts from the previous day to make room for the next day’s thoughts. It’s as if the Lord is helping us to forget useless thoughts making room for new ones. Jeremiah said in Lamentations 3:22&23, “It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” And as we awake to a new day, we awake to God’s new goodness. Hey, take a moment and thank the dear Lord for His new blessings that await you today. Then use the day looking for God’s goodness, because it is there. Remember, God loves you!
