Poor Planning

Last Monday was cold – even for me.  I like cooler weather, but Monday was just plain cold.  But as the week went on, the days began to warm up.  Wednesday and Thursday were gorgeous: cool nights for sleeping and warm days for enjoying.  But Thursday’s cool morning and warm afternoon set up my problem on Friday.  Thursday, I wore my thermal zip-up sweatshirt, but the warm afternoon had me taking the sweatshirt off.  And with the warm afternoon, I forgot my sweatshirt in the car Thursday evening.  So, Friday, I awoke to a brisk morning with my jacket in the car.  Bummer.  When I was ready to go to cardiac rehab at 5:15 am Friday morning, I ran out to the car in a short-sleeved t shirt.  I grabbed my jacket from the car’s back seat and put it on … but it too was cold!  I started the car and quickly turned on the heater … but it was cold!  It took me 10 minutes to thaw out!  Poor planning (or no planning at all) leads to disastrous results.  Hey, are you making spiritual plans, or are you just reacting as life unfolds?  Are you laying up treasures in heaven, or just living your life?  Jesus said in Mat 6:19-21, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Where is your treasure?  On earth or in heaven?  Hey, don’t be left out in the cold.  Plan ahead.  You’ll be glad that you did.
