Old Dress Shirt

Well, it’s time to retire one of my powder-blue dress shirts.  A sad day for me, because this shirt has served me well.  It is a Roundtree & Yorke Gold Label full-fit cotton advanced generation non-iron 100% cotton pinpoint.  The shirt was pricey, but it has never been ironed and looks as good today as the first day that I put it on (notice the sharp crease on the sleeve).  Well worth the money that I paid four years ago.  When I think of laundering a dress shirt costing almost $5, this shirt has saved me a ton of money over four years!  I am retiring the shirt, not because it is wrinkled, but because it is becoming threadbare around the collar and the placket.  This sharp, old shirt reminds me of Caleb in the Old Testament.  Caleb and Joshua were two of the twelve spies Moses sent to investigate the Promised Land.  But only Caleb and Joshua brought back a good report.  And twenty years later, Caleb told Joshua in Joshua 14:11, “As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.”  Although 85 years old, Caleb was faithful and strong, like my old dress shirt.  He may have even had some creases in his face.  ;<)  But Caleb loved the Lord and liked a challenge.  Hey, do you love the Lord, and do you like a challenge?  Then decide to serve the dear Lord with all of your heart!  Never back down no matter how old you are!  Someday, when you face your Maker, you’ll be glad.
