Hebrews 1:10-12

Hebrews 1:10-12 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. We learn several important things in our verses for today. First we learn that God is eternal. God made everything and everything is the works of his hands. And secondly, just like your tee shirts get old and wear out, this old earth is wearing out. The scientific term is entropy. Everything is wearing down. When you get that tee shirt for Christmas, it is crisp and new. But from that time forward it begins to get worn and soon wears out. First it gets a hole in it, and then two, and then three, and then several. It feels great, but is getting threadbare. That tee shirt is at its best only when it is brand new. From that day forward, it begins to wear out. And so, it is with this old earth. God made it perfect in the beginning, but with Adam’s sin, the death and decay process began. Just like your old tee shirt, our old earth is wearing down. But, thankfully, the Lord Jesus will come back to rescue is very soon. Before the earth wears out, we will be safe in heaven. That is if you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. So, have you trusted in Jesus? Are you ready for when the earth wears out?
