Hebrews 1:4

Hebrews 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. This verse is used by the Mormons and the Jehovah Witnesses to say that Jesus is only a created person. But they ignore the three previous verses that tell us that Jesus Christ is God Himself, come in the flesh. So what does our verse mean? This verse is referring to the incarnation, which is God being made into a human. Jesus is eternal and has lived from eternity past. But at a certain point in time, Jesus came down from heaven and became a man. Jesus, who had existed before, was born as a baby in the manger at Christmas time. Jesus became a man. It was as if someone put on a coat and went outside on a cold December night. Jesus put on humanness. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has existed from eternity past, but Jesus, the man, began when He was born in Bethlehem. The deity of Christ is eternal; the humanity of Christ had a beginning. What a wonderful idea! Jesus was born just like us humans so that He could feel what we feel and die for us! Hallelujah, what a Savior!
