Great Expectations

I majored in English (mostly literature) in college.  I had two semesters of British literature, and Charles Dickens was my favorite author.  I read “Great Expectations” … all 400 pages, but I was disappointed with the ending. SPOILER ALERT!  Pip, the hero in the story, fell into a large inheritance, and he thought he knew who his benefactor was.  He tried to woo the beautiful Estella, a young woman that he adored, but couldn’t seem to connect with her.  In the end, they never got together!  What a bummer!  Hey, what about the book of your life?  In the early chapters did you have problems and tragedies?  Were other chapters marred by failures/sin?  Hey, the last chapter of your life hasn’t been written yet.  And did you know that the last chapter will be the longest?!  It will last forever!  And if you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior, the last chapter of your story will be perfect.  You will be with your Savior forever and forever!  Paul describes your last chapter in I Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”  Hey, the best is yet to come!  Are you looking forward to that last chapter?
