Self-Centered?

Nicolas Copernicus was a bold astronomer who lived in Poland.  In 1543 he broke with common thought that the earth was at the center of the universe.  Copernicus proved mathematically that the sun was the center of the solar system and the earth revolved around the sun.  The earth rotated on its axis giving the appearance that the sun was revolving around the earth.  At night, the stars appeared to revolve around the earth, again because of the rotation of the earth on its axis.  Hey, appearances can be deceiving, but that is a lesson for another day.  Instead of the earth flying around the sun every 24 hours, Copernicus proposed that the earth rotated every day and revolved around the sun every year.  The sun was the center of the solar system, and the earth was just one of the planets that circled the sun.  Copernicus had difficulty in breaking tradition.  Everyone thought that WE were the center of the universe!  It was difficult to convince others to think in a new way.  Hey, it is difficult for folk to hear the news that they are not really a good person.  It is difficult for folk to believe that they are sinners and in need of a Savior.  Our good works will not get us to heaven.  Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way!  Peter said in Act 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”  Jesus is the only way!  Hey, don’t be afraid to think a new way.  Read the Bible and listen to what God has to say ... not what you think.  You’ll be glad that you did.
