The most difficult part of learning is unlearning. Preconceived ideas, false delusions, and wrong beliefs are like concrete: all mixed up and set forever. Paul said it best in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (emphasis mine) Did you get that?! Salvation is a free gift! You can’t work for it or earn it … it’s a gift! But first, you must realize that you are a condemned man facing God’s judgement. You must hear the bad part to realize that you need to hear the good part. You must unlearn the idea that you can work your way to heaven before you can learn the idea that salvation is a free gift.
