Ten Lepers

While Jesus was on his last trip to Jerusalem (to go to the cross), he encountered ten lepers just outside of a little village somewhere in the Jordan valley.  All ten of them cried out to Jesus for mercy.  Jesus told them to go and show themselves to the priest. That was because Jesus had just healed them of their leprosy!  But in Luke 17:17-19, “And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”  All ten of them were healed of their leprosy, but they would all eventually die of something else.  Leprosy didn’t get them, but something else would!  But we will see the one thankful leper in heaven someday.  He alone returned to thank Jesus and to worship Him.  Hey, unless the Lord returns soon in the rapture, we will all die of something.  A sobering thought.  But if you trust in Jesus like the thankful leper, just after you close your eyes in death, you will open them again in heaven to be a part of God’s forever family.  What a wonderful morning that will be!
