Spring Water

There is a spring near Boynton Drive about two miles from our house here in Ringgold.  In 1862, just after the Battle of Chickamauga, a Confederate hospital was set up near the spring so that the wounded soldiers could obtain fresh water.  Several hospitals near other springs were set up to care for the 20,000 sick and wounded.  Not much could be done for them other than comfort measures.  Some got better, but most died, comforted by local ladies as best they could.  The water bubbling up at the Boynton spring produces about 400,000 gallons of fresh water each day.  The spring reminds me of God’s mercy to me that springs from His goodness each and every day.  David said in Psalm 85:10&11, “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.”  I am grateful for God’s truth and righteousness.  Just like a cool drink of water from the Boynton spring, God’s goodness refreshes my soul every day.
