Salesman and Dog

The story is told of the salesman who came up to a house.  A man was sitting on the porch, and a dog was lying on the steps.  The salesman called to the man, “Does your dog bite?”  The man replied, “Oh no, my dog doesn’t bite.”  So, the salesman walked up to the porch.  The dog growled, and promptly bit the salesman on the leg.  After a brief encounter, the salesman kicked the dog off and joined the man on the porch as the dog slunk away.  The frustrated salesman said, “I thought you said that your dog didn’t bite?!”  The man replied, “Oh, my dog doesn’t bite.  That wasn’t my dog.”  Hey, have you ever been in a situation where what you thought was true wasn’t true?  Maybe you thought that you had gauged a person correctly, but your first impression wasn’t completely accurate?  Or the situation that you had sized up in your mind had turned out to be very different?  James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”  You may not know the whole story or understand the complete situation, but the Lord does!  He knows everything, and He can give you guidance ... that is if you ask Him.  Hey, today, don’t be careless; ask God for advice.  You’ll be glad that you did.
