Slackers

With the advent of Covid, working from home has replaced the cubical.  Supervisors who used to stalk the office hallways for lazy office workers now stalk the computer cameras at your home workspace.  But slackers always find ways to be lazy, whether at the office cubical or at home on the work computer.  I read in the WSJ how “workers” (I use that term loosely) have attached their computer mouse to a desktop oscillating fan to prevent their computer screen from going to the screensaver mode!  Now they make “mouse jigglers” for $30 that keep moving the mouse while the work-at-home employee takes a nap.  Others have discovered that opening Powerpoint and “presenting” a blank slide one time records “a presentation”, and the boss sees an attempted sales call.  No matter how supervisors supervise, slackers will always slack off at work.  Solomon must have had slacker servants, because he wrote in Proverbs 26:16, “The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.”  A lazy employee will always be ahead of a diligent boss.  But remember: the diligent boss will still get the pay of a boss while the clever, lazy employee will only get the pay of an employee.
