Last week, as I went down the front steps, the second step tipped forward and I almost fell. I had known that the steps were aging, but this was the first serious proof. I had to replace them, and right away! So, I tore out the treads, risers, and stringers. And underneath, I found a 5/16 nut driver that had been missing for 22 years! I had no sooner finished the steps when I got an emergency phone call from Brother Carl at church. Our duplex water was leaking and flooding the front yard (one day before the big flood on I-24). So, I picked up the tools from around the front steps, threw them into the back of the car, and off to Lowe’s where I picked up material for the water pipe repair. At the duplex, I followed the bubbling water and uncovered the underground leak. I spliced the pipe in case the split had traveled any further, and I used 2 clamps on each end just to be sure (leak insurance, I call it). But I had forgotten to bring my ¼” drive socket set to tighten the band clamps. But to my surprise, the band clamps needed a 5/16 socket, which I had just found after 22 years! Coincidence or a God thing? I think that the dear Lord knew that I needed a little help on August 11, 2025 and let me forget that nut driver under the steps … 22 years ago! Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
