Mum Season

I drove to Springfield, Tennessee Friday to visit my oldest daughter.  It was her birthday, and we had a great day.  At least I thought that we did.  You’ll have to ask her if she had a great day.  On the way to her house, I drove past their greenhouse: South Central Growers (check them out on facebook).  The mums were looking gorgeous … well the foliage was looking good.  It is too early for the blooms, but the leaves were looking great!  The mums were all green, but in a month or so they will be yellow, orange, white, and rusty red.  SCG knows what seeds that they plant, but right now, the plants all look the same.  It’s just not quite the mum season yet.  Humans have seasons too.  There is a time to run cross-country, but then there is a time to sit on the back deck and watch the birds.  There is a time to raise your children, but then there is a time to enjoy the grandchildren.  There is a time to work hard and there is a time to retire and to do free work at church.  Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”  Then Solomon went on to list items like I listed above.  Hey, what stage are you at in your life?  Whatever stage of life that you’re in, do it well, because this is the only chance you get.
