I was walking into Memorial Hospital last week on my way to cardiac rehab. An older lady was helping her mother (who was really old) out of their SUV and into a wheelchair. They were obviously struggling, so I asked if I could help, and the lady readily agreed. I reassured her mother and asked her to swing her legs out of the car, which she did. The mother was distraught, but I spoke calmly and confidently. I pushed the wheelchair in close and asked her to put one hand on the wheelchair arm and the other hand way up onto the open car door and to pull herself up. She easily did so, and I guided her to sit down in the wheelchair. Then we rolled into the lobby where she had a medical test scheduled. The lady thanked me over and over saying that I was an angel sent by God to help them. Then she explained to the receptionist that I was an angel sent from God to help them. The receptionist saw me 3 mornings a week on my way to cardiac rehab, and she knew that I wasn’t an angel sent from God. What those two ladies that I helped didn’t know was that I had helped my dear wife in and out of our car for the past seven years. And not bragging, I was an expert because of my wife’s struggles. II Corinthians 1:3&4, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” When the Lord sends you trouble, testing, and grief, look for others in similar situations who are not as far along as you are. Then be a blessing to them because God has been a blessing to you. Pay it forward, you’ll be glad that you did, and God will smile!
