Thirsty

Have you ever been thirsty?  No, I mean REALLY thirsty?!  I had several high school students helping me on a roofing job in 1986 up on Signal Mt. Tennessee.  It was an A-frame house with almost all roof.  I tried to coordinate our work so as to take advantage of the shade, but towards the end, we just had to work where we needed to roof regardless of the sun.  One afternoon, the lady of the house came out with drinks for us.  But, she was of a fringe cult and said, “Orange juice is a great thirst-quencher.”  But trust me, it was not.  No matter what she said, I was thirstier after that drink than before the drink!  And just like the deer in Psalm 42 that was being chased by the hunters and hounds, David’s soul longed for the dear Lord.  The deer longed for a drink of cool water and King David longed for a close relationship with his Creator.  Psalm 42:1, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”  Hey, do you thirst for God?  No, I mean REALLY thirst after God?!  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  It’s as simple as that.  Come clean with your sin and call on the dear Lord.  Get back to where you want to be … in sweet fellowship with the Savior of your soul.
