Dressed for Battle

What would you think of a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan who took off their helmet, took off their flack jacket, took off their fatigues, and took off their bullet-proof vest, and put on suntan oil and laid out in the sun to get a suntan?  Very quickly, you would confront them and remind them that they were in a war zone.  You would remind them to get their protection on and to pick up their weapon.  Hey, we as Christians need to be reminded that we live in a war zone!  Each morning, we should get up and get dressed for battle.  Your nagging wife is not the enemy; Satan is.  Your pesky children aren’t the enemy; Satan is.  Your boss at work isn’t your enemy; Satan is.  And when we pray, “Lord help me today,” the Lord will respond, “Get your armor on that I have already provided for you!”  Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”  Grammatically, the subject of that sentence is ‘you understood’.  Grammatically, that sentence is a request or a command.  But since it is from God Almighty, it is a command!  We aren’t babies that God must dress; we are soldiers who should put on our own armor that the dear Lord has already provided!  Hey, wake up!  Don’t put on suntan oil; put on your armor!  You are in a battle!  Huhra!
