Friday afternoon I went by Lowe’s and bought some Round-Up to kill the weeds beside my driveway. Wait! Does that mean that I will be a part of a class action lawsuit in 2030?! Well, no, not if I use the weedkiller in the proper dose, in the proper way, and with the proper precautions. Sometimes we jump to conclusions about an issue. Like anger. It’s not wrong to be angry. “Wait,” you might say, “I thought it was wrong to be angry. I thought we Christians were supposed to be namby-pamby milk toasts.” Well, Jesus Himself was angry! Jesus Christ made a whip of cords and physically drove out the moneychangers from the Temple! John 2:15 And Jesus had no guile in him at all! I Peter 2:2 But, when you bust someone in the face because you are angry, that’s wrong. That’s when you have gone too far. We should be angry at sin, but not at the sinner. We should be angry at the drug dealer, but realize that he was duped by Satan. Jesus was accused of being the friend of sinners. Jesus never condoned their sin, but He had compassion for the sinner. And I am glad that He had compassion, because I am the chief of sinners. Paul said in I Timothy 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” I know that this is Scripture, but each of us must see our own sin as the worst of the worse. Hey, repent of your sins and do things God’s way, and you will have the peace of God and enjoy the heaven that Jesus has prepared for you! (John 14:1-6)
