Watching, Waiting

Often, I see a hawk beside the interstate perched on a power line scanning the ground looking for its next meal.  They sit motionless, looking for a careless mouse.  And if they spot an unsuspecting little creature, they will quietly launch with wings outspread and suddenly pounce on the prey with sharp talons pinning the poor creature to the ground.  But the hawk has no pity, because the little mouse is only a meal to him.  Hey, Satan is watching too!  He is scanning mankind for any sign of weakness.  And if your Christian life becomes cold and backslidden, Satan will pounce on you and tear you to pieces!  Yes, he will!  He has no mercy, and he has no pity!  I Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”  When the lion falls on its prey, it cares not that it is a nursing mother.  Little ones are left helpless in the den with no mother to feed them.  The lion grabs the throat and choaks the life out of the struggling creature.  The cold, heartless lion kills and devours the surprised prey.  Hey, do you have on the armor of God that is described in Ephesians 6?  Are you on the lookout for the enemy of your soul?  Are you careless in Bible reading, prayer, and church attendance?  Or do you look to Jesus every day for your protection.  Hey, reread Ephesians 6:10-18 and be streetwise today.  One worse than a hawk or a lion is after you today.  Yes, he is.
