I went to Food City on 41 highway a few months ago to pick up a few items. I usually shop Food Lion in Ringgold, so the layout of Food City was unfamiliar to me. I lacked one final item: Velveeta Cheese. I searched the refrigerated aisle looking in the cheese cooler. Then I looked in the yogurt cooler and finally by the sour cream. Nothing. I asked a worker, and she said, “Oh, I think it’s down by the crackers on aisle 5.” I looked where she suggested, but still no Velveeta. Another worker said, “I think it’s by the soups on aisle 2. Wrong again. I was looking for a third worker with a third idea when I saw the Velveeta cheese on the endcap! Success! At checkout, I grumbled to the cashier, and she replied, “You don’t have to refrigerate Velveeta until you open the inner foil wrapper. It’s sealed. So it could be anywhere.” Now I know where Velveeta cheese is found, and where it is not found. Hey, in life, we look for happiness in all of the wrong places. We think that popularity will make us happy. It doesn’t. Women look for relationships and men look for money. Neither will make us happy. Philanthropy numbs the hopeless feeling, but giving everything away still will not bring happiness. Only Jesus Christ will give you the peace of mind that you are searching for. Read the book of Ecclesiastes. Solomon accumulated everything that this world had to offer, and he concluded that all is vanity … emptiness. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” True joy is found only in surrender to Jesus. Hey, trust in Jesus Christ: He will never let you down.
