Monday, I was late going to my great-niece’s daughter’s birthday party. I got off the interstate and followed a pokey car. Actually, they weren’t pokey, I was just late, and I was impatient. And then at the next intersection, they pulled into the left turn lane in front of me! Oh, brother! I followed them on the curvy road for a mile or so and waited for them to turn left against oncoming traffic to go up the hill (again, in front of me, the way that I was going). Then after they cautiously navigated the curves to the top of the hill, they turned right onto the street where the party was! They were still in front of me, and I was still late, and I was still impatient! Then they parked at the house where the party was! And then, my other great-niece got out of the car … and waved to me as I parked behind her. I am SO glad that I hadn’t honked at her or impatiently flashed my lights at her! Although now I am outed since she often reads my facebook posts. Hey, my Christian testimony is on display each day. Am I patient and kind, or am I cranky and impatient? When someone finds out that I am a Christian, are they surprised or is the gospel confirmed in their minds? I Peter 2:12, “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” I should be more careful when I drive. I need one of those bumper stickers that reads, “Honk if you love Jesus”. But if you honk at me, will I wave to you, or will I shake my fist at you for honking at me?
