Manners

When someone says, “Thank you,” do you say, “No problem”?  Or do you say, “You’re welcome”?  I think that there’s a big difference.  “You’re welcome” is a mannerly response, but “No problem” is a dismissive response … it’s as if you’re saying, “Oh no, you don’t need to thank me for being kind,” but you do.  Each kind deed should be acknowledged, AND each kind deed that is acknowledged should also be acknowledged.  You should be a mannerly person, not to be nice to the other person, but because you ARE a mannerly person.  I hold the door open because I am a gentlemen, not because she is a lady.  And if I am more gentlemanly, others will become more lady-like.  Manners beget manners.  Kindness is returned with kindness.  But someone must begin the cycle, or no one will.  So, are you up for the challenge?  Proverbs 18:24, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly …”  And with no damage to the Scripture, “A man who expects kindness to be shown to him should first show kindness to others.”  Think about it.  Do you agree?  I’ll start to make a difference in Ringgold, Georgia then YOU begin to make a difference in your part of the world.  Let the revolution in manners begin.
