Saturday, I went canoeing with a friend and his twin sons. When I got home about 6 pm, I was worn out! I had a great time, but my arms felt like logs hanging off my shoulders. I got a warm shower, supper, got my music ready for Sunday, and went straight to bed. I woke up several times in the night but went right back to sleep. When I woke up at 6 am, I felt refreshed. And well I should have because I had slept for 9 hours! But my body had needed the rest. David knew exactly what I felt, because he was worn out from Saul’s army chasing him all around in the wilderness. David said in Psalm 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” I am so glad for the physical body that the Lord has given me. And I am glad that I can wear myself out, fall into bed, and sleep in peace. And I can sleep in peace because I am cradled in the dear Lord’s loving arms. Hey, have you had a hard day? Are you weary in mind or in body? Then relax … go to bed, go to sleep, and let the dear Lord unravel the cares of your day. Then wake up in the morning to face the battle again … in the strength of the Lord!
