Cleaning out the Ditches

Last summer, Catoosa County public works showed up on our road with their ditch-cleaning equipment for a complete showing of our tax dollars hard at work.  Two flagmen, one at each end, the Gradeall truck and spotter, two dump trucks hauling debris off to the landfill, and of course the supervisor in the air-conditioned pickup on his cell phone.  But this fall, they neglected to clean out the leaves that fell into the clean ditch, and the leaves clogged the culverts.  Despite the big cleaning operationsin the summer, the drains still clogged with water and ran over the roadbed.  Good intentions, big whoopla, but same problem.  Hey, before we judge them, we are the same way with our service for the dear Lord.  We have big plans and big programs, but we need daily prayer to keep close communication lines open to the Lord.  Paul said in Ephesians 6:18, “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”  Salvation is just the beginning.  Our daily walk with God is crucial for our spiritual growth.  Keep the leaves and debris of sin out with a daily prayer life, and the water of prayer power will freely flow.  We need God’s power upon our lives.  Hey, now would be a good time to pause and talk with your heavenly Father.  Yes, it would!
